"According to the Guinness Book of Records the world’s most venomous spiders is the Brazilian wandering spider (Phoneutria nigriventer).

This spider is believed to have the most active neurotoxic venom of any living spider. Its venom is so potent that only 0.006mg (0.00000021oz) is sufficient to kill a mouse."

But for sheer cuteness, you have to check out this candidate:

Mostly, I'd stay STAY AWAY FROM ANY THAT *COULD* QUALIFY! ;)

It is hard to say which animal would get this prize. A poisonous animal carries harmful chemicals called toxins. Usually, these toxins are used for defense, and are stored in the skin or in special glands. Compare these creatures to venomous animals, which deliver their toxins by stinging, stabbing, or biting.

Poisonous creatures don't intend to hurt other creatures, which is why they have bright colors and markings that send a clear message: "Don't touch!" If a predator ignores that warning, he might not get a second chance. One swallow, or even a little taste testing, and it's all over. The toxin will stop the heart or lungs from working, and death will follow.

The poison arrow frog and certain salamanders would have to top most people's list of "The World's Most Poisonous Animals." Just two micrograms of toxin from the poison arrow frog is enough to kill a human. A "microgram" is a very small amount. The ink in the period at the end of this sentence will weigh around six micrograms.

What about venomous animals? A good example of defense can be found in stonefish. They store their toxin in gruesome-looking spines that are designed to hurt would-be predators. This homely creature will win no beauty prize, but deserves honor and respect for being "The World's Most Venomous Fish."

Toxins also are designed to kill prey or, at least, slow them down. This is the tactic used by many snakes. The prize for "The World's Most Venomous Snake" goes to the inland taipan of Australia. But the top prize, "The World Most Venomous Animal," should go to the box jellyfish, which is found in the waters around Asia and Australia. They have long tentacles with stings at the very ends.

Hospitals often carry medicines that work against venom, but treatment has to be very fast to counteract the toxins of these prize-winning creat

There are many extremely venomous animals, however the most venomous it is a bit of a toss up. Austrailia is home to the most venomous creatures on land and in water. The most venomous on land is arguabley the "inland taipan" there are two varities of this snake, one being slightly worse than the other, but both very deadly. In the ocean the box jelly fish is a nasty critter, but it does not bite. It stings, and usually more than once, which makes it also very deadly. Convulsions, paralysis, drowning, usually. All stinging jelly fish can be deadly, if the water is deep enough and you get stung enough. I know this from experience, although in shallow water and able to escape, I was stung 3 times and it hurt like a mother$%^&*r for days. Spiders are way down the list, they don't produce enough venom to be overly deadly to humans, small children perhaps, but usually not adults, unless or old or weak. Scorpions, hurts but you'll live. Monitor lizard(komodo dragon) a bite will kill you eventually, Bad news bacteria in the saliva, you'll live long enough for the wound to go septic, then you will die in writhing agony. Poison Dart Frog, yes deadly and can kill humans, but the fact that jungle warriors capture them and used their venom on weapons says they are not overly dangerous, or you would have a bunch of dead jungle people. One thing to remember is that there have never been any actual case studies or experiments on people to find the most venomous. They use rats and mice and other vermin. All of these venomous animals also do not look to bite a human, they only do it to protect themselves, so if you see one don't bother it. However there have been a couple of suspected cases of Black Mamba's tracking horse and rider after being stepped on. But normally humans have no natural enemies, other than other humans.

I would consider the Komodo dragon as its saliva is deadly. However, technically it is not venomous. Venomous inplies that venom is injected/used in some way, but the Komodo Dragon has no venom. What makes it deadly in the cocktail of bactria that reside in its mouth and therefore its saliva. But this is not a venom.

As for the true most venomous, i'm not 100% sure but i think it may be a snake or spider.

Edit: having read the answer above me, i'm pretty sure it is a fish, i remember reading about that.

The fierce snake (inland Taipan) is thought to have the most potent venom of all snakes (50x that of an Indian cobra). In fact Australia has the top10 most venomous land snakes in the world. Hovever venomous and dangerous are different the Black Mamba is probably the most dangerous snake.

As for spiders and jellyfish and other creatures I don't know

I don't know what the most venomous creature is but the poison arrow frogs of south America come pretty close. The frogs are red and green stripped, smaller than a fingernail, and the toxin they produce was used by the frogs themselves against predators, and also by native Indians to tip their arrows. The frogs were so toxic, arrow tips only had to be rubbed across the back of a frog to coat them with poison.
The poison's toxicity causes paralysis even in the minute doses secreted by the frog and a dose of just 2 milligrammes can kill a person.

The Black Mamba is the most deadly snake in the world. They grow 14 feet in length, and can travel at speeds of up to 12 mph. They have a head shaped like a coffin. The Black Mamba is not actually black. They have a brownish-gray body with a light belly and brownish scales along its back. It gets its name from the color of the lining of its mouth, which is purple-black, and which it displays when threatened.

The Black Mamba lives in South Africa. They like open, low habitats such as savannas, rocky places and open woodlands. They are active during the day. They often sleep in hollow trees, burrows, rock crevices, or empty termite mounds, and will come back to the same place every night.

The Black Mambas feed on small mammals and birds, like voles, rats, squirrels, mice, rats, or bush babies. Once a Mamba was found with a parrot in its stomach, another with a full grown Forest Cobra! It will strike a large animal and then release it. It then stalks their victim until it becomes paralyzed. With smaller animals it will strike and hold on until the animal becomes paralyzed. Its flexible jaws and scales makes it possible to eat the animal whole.

Several weeks after a pair of mamba mate, the female will find a good place to lay 6-17 eggs. The burrow must be damp but not wet, and warm, but not too hot. After she lays her eggs the female leaves. The young snakes are about 16-24 inches long when they hatch three months later. They reach maturity when they are 3-4 feet in length.

The Black Mambas are found in pairs or small groups. They are very nervous, and head away fast when a human approaches. When the mamba feels threatened it will raise its front and head about 3-4 feet off the ground, open its mouth, spread a flat hood, and shake its head. When they attack they will make several quick strikes, and escape as fast as they can. They can strike from 4-6 feet away. Before antivenins were developed, a black mamba bite was 100% fatal.

They are invulnerable, because no animal can actually kill them. Their venom can kill just about anything, so they don't have much to worry about. The mamba is mainly threatened by habitat destruction.

Have look yourself...

The most venomous creature apart from micro organisms is said to be the sea wasp jelly fish otherwise known as the marine stinger. This is judged by how much venom is needed to kill and how quickly that venom works

Blue-ringed octopus has a venom that can kill in three minutes and there is no antidote. It is the most venomous creature that injects its venom into the blood stream by biting, stinging, or clawing, etc. There's a poison dart frog that has a more lethal toxin but the frog has to be eaten for the poison to be introduced into your bloodstream.

Well, I can tell you one thing, despite any rumors you've heard it's not the daddy long-legs, but I do believe it might either be a spider or a jelly-fish...then again, it might be the Boomslang, the 2 step snake, meaning that once it bites you, you have time to take 2 steps before you die..it's not the Black Mamba, because that's a 7 step snake.

Wait a sec, mebbe it's the cuttlefish found in the Gulf of California, or that slug thing that shoots a sort of harpoon appendage.

Hell, it might be the saliva of the Komodo dragon.

Many creatures have laid claim to this title, let me just tell you I dun fancy spiders, hiking through the jungle, or swimming in the ocean.
