Garden center, selling plants/ supplies/ mulch etc.
The plants are very expensive and in poor condition.
The store has an "attitude" though not an encouraging one.
There are many other competing stores in the area offering better.

yes!!

it appeals to the high-end snob in all of us. i have shopped at places like this before. it's fun to browse and to wonder, is this place a write-off? did they wake up on the wrong side of the bed? am i doing them a favor by visiting there? will they 'cheerfully refund' if i have any problem with their products?

Is that store a corporate franchise?

I find that people who work for franchises are complete idiots and its not necessarily their fault. They don't own the business and they really don't understand their product.
