And can you give us some pointers on picking up these things. Yes, it's very general I know, but in our own language we don't hint we say.

I should add, that this is a question for the women here. Also, not that it's sexy and intriguing if it's actually how a woman is, but a turn off if it's trying too hard to be mysterious

Depends on the man who is being hinted to.
I prefer to be direct, but some men yell and throw temper-tantrums which can be scary. If this is the case, yes, I need to use my womanly guiles and brains to find ways to hint, or to make the man believe it's his idea .... I've seen women who were raised by emotional men and have learned as a survival skill to always hint rather than be direct; consequently, this is how they approach all life situations ... I myself only use this as a self-preservation technique, but that's me.
{PS: Some (OK lots of) woman are also the scary types who throw temper-tantrums, so this is also used with scary women.}

Mainly because women are afraid of being rejected by men.
If a woman is considered 'Charmless', it is an insult to her.
If a man is thought of being 'Harmless', it is an insult to him.
But men take all insults as a part of life & forget them easily.
But women take it too personal & serious making their life too difficult to carry on & they keep on brooding over it for life.
That's why women are extra-cautious to throw open hints even at men they are dying for. They keep their distance not to feel hurt thereafter.
We all know, Hell has no fiercer fire than a woman wronged!So it is better that they throw subtle hints or no hints to men!
God is saving men!

I'm a woman and I don't belive in being "subtle" If you want to know something from a woman you have to ask her. If she doesn't want you to know she won't tell you. The only pointer I can give you since you obviously don't know and that is to LISTEN to what she says, not what you think she is saying.

Women expect you be be on the same page with them, so I feel like it's kind of a test to see if you're the right guy for her. They want you to be in touch with their feelings and if you aren't then they try to give you a fair chance to figure it out on your own. That's just a theory. I could be wrong.

Um... I've learned just by watching, Girls aren't that hard to pick up. It just takes keeping your eyes open, and keep to the eyes not the chest. You'll never get hints looking there.

I've met ladies.
They didn't lack guts, weren't vulgar, were straight up front, while being circumspect.
