It is part of their contract with DSC not to participate in any other shows while they are producing this "soap opera". Asfar as could they actually compete against other builders such as Billy Lane, Indiana Larry Legacy, Kendall Johnson and the Myrid of other cuctom builders. You bet your sweet *** they could. Don't forget the miricle of editing makes it look like it actually takes less time then they really put in it. The builders of BBO use just as much off the shelf material as any other bike builder. 10 days is not a long time but it can be done and be a bad *** chopper to boot

I don't know the 'correct' answer, but they aren't 'builders' as much as they are 'assememblers'. If you watch the show, you see the sometimes use their own frames, but that is about it. 'Jr' has some design talent, but that is for their 'theme' bikes. Other than that, they go pull stuff off the shelf (just like you or I could). If you know much of anything about building a bike, you already kow what a joke they are. They are the 'stars' of a TV show and that's about it. Anytime building a bike can be condensed into 2-3 hour long episodes, you know a LOT has to be left out. Because of 'American Chopper' everyone thinks that can build a bad-a$$ motorcycle now days. I doubt OCC could 'assemble' a bike in the time allowed for B.B.O. And if they DID their bike couldn't hold a candle to 'real' builders like Billy Lane, or Joe Martin, or Shinya.

I'm pretty sure it's because although they are on the Discovery Channel, their show is produced by a different production company. Original productions produces Biker Build Off and not American Chopper. I'm sure they would lose anyway, but this should explain why they don't appear on any other show.

For openers, nothing they ever do gets done on time. They're always under the gun, but it's their own time that they're working against. Secondly, I don't think you could pay a real builder enough money to have to tolerate that bunch of dysfunctional inbreds. Lastly, they buy all their parts from all the other builders, so they wouldn't have anything to work with if they had to start from scratch.
