You can break this down to an equation.

1.26 * $$$ = 19108
The 1.26 is because the wedding price is the entire price of 5 years ago plus 26 %. You must remember that percents are part of a whole. 100% is the beginning so it is 1 and 26% will be .26. Therefore, 1 + .26 = 1.26.
$$$ = 19108/1.26
You can divide by 1.26 to get the $$$ by itself.
$$$ = $15165.07937
$$$ = $15165.08
Remeber that when you round you determine the last digit by comparing it to 5. If it is greater or equal to 5, you go up one number and if it is less than 5, you stay at that digit.

And I don't know why that this answer isn't the same as the answer you had. I believe mine is right . . . I double checked.

You multiply the cost of the wedding now ($19,108.00) by .26 . (To turn a percent into a decimal you move the period to the left 2 times. 10 percent changes to .10 ) That answer gives you the amount of increase. Then you take the cost now and subtract the number that you got. This will give you the cost 5 years ago.

Good luck on your homework.... and remember the decimal trick.... move the decimal twice to the left

well, you know that 1.26x=$19108. The 1.26 comes from 100% (the original cost of the wedding) plus 26% (the added cost of the wedding over 5 years), and the sum is therefore 126%=1.26. Therefore to find x, you divide by 1.26 (and then round).
