It's a matter of personal choice. I wouldn't date a black man or anyone outside my race. However, I have no problem with 2 people of different races dating. It's what makes you happy.

My parents said the same thing to me and I listened. I'm engaged to a white man and have 2 beautiful children with him. If you're under 18, listen to your mom. You may not understand now but in the end you will. It might be more than just this guys skin color.

A lot of mixed kids do have it rough depending on where you live. My family is from West Virginia. My cousin has 2 children that are mixed(black and white). Her kids are treated poorly by a lot of people in our family. I don't treat them any differently, but many of the older people in the family do.

Tell your mom to join the 21st century. I am biracial and I have never been made fun of for it a day in my life. I don't know why she thinks you will look like a slut if your with a black guy and like a little angel if your with a white guy. That makes no sense at all. Who cares what people think of you anyways. You need to be your own person not your moms mini me. Maybe it's just the area that I live in but their are alot of biracial people. I find that guys love the fact that im biracial(black and white guys). I guess they feel like their getting the best of both worlds or something. I think that biracial people are the most beautiful people. Look at Halle Berry and me. I don't mean to tute my own horn but BEEP BEEP. Your mom needs to get a life and stop trying to control yours.

I'm sorry but your mom is a rascist, and she's ignorant too. If you want to survive in this day and age don't be like her. I'm telling you if some teen around my age came to my school saying that races shouldn't mix he would get jumped. God made all people equal. the amount if melanin in your skin does not make a difference. there are good and bad black, white, asian, etc guys out there. Why limit yourself. Maybe kids back in your moms day were made fun of but kids nowadays raerly are and if they are that the racists' prolem not yours. Plus kids that have various background are usually the cutest kids. If I named the 3 cutest children I know, only one of them is all one race.

Either way, we're all human, and thats what really counts

Personally, I think that your mom is racist! I think that mixed kids are so cute, most people think that.
I don't think that I have ever noticed anything wrong with it. I am in a "mixed race" relationship. I really didn't even notice that it was weird until some old lady in my neighborhood asked if she should have called the police when he was tickling me and I was screaming.
If you like the guy and he likes you it really doesn't even matter what they think.
I know this sounds weird, but I don't notice when an African American and a white person are together. I just see them as a couple.

My mom doesn't like mixed couples either. I've never found any white guys that I know hot or cute or whatever, so I don't care.

I don't think your kids will get teased. One of my close friends is mixed. A very popular girl in elementary. Pretty popular in HS too. I'm not mixed, but very light skinned. And sometimes people tease me saying I act white or I am mixed. But that's one person out of 2000 at my school one time out of the 100s of days I've been there, so it's no big deal. And people say kids act white anyway, even if they are dark skinned.

I love the way most mixed people's hair is. The way it's all curly? My cousin's is like that. I want it. Mines only like that if I braid it.

If your mum doesn't like it, just date him anyway, without telling her. If you are closed minded you could miss out on the one guy for you.

First of all who cares what your mom says. What do you think you should do. I have a friend who is black and he is almost my boyfreind but whatever you think is the best for you! Here is what my african american friend thinks: I think this is bull $hit because we are all human and not being racist but personally, I think black people are normally not as bad as white people. I mean come on, its not like everyday you see or hear a black person saying horrible $hit about white people. It's stuff like this that makes some black people think $hit like this about white people. To be honest, when you get older, do what i would do if i fell in love with a white person. (For you it would be a black person.) I would say f*** what your snotty a$$ mom thinks and do what you think is best for you.

there is nothing wrong with being a mixed couple. My best friend is white and she went with a black guy. she did it twice while we were in middle school. it does not look bad. you shouldnt care what other people think as long as you like each other and you know that you look good together.

i think it's awful what your mother says and in my opinion she is wrong, i have a mixed baby, I'm 50% white and50% Mexican i am getting married to a black man and i was raised to see the person not the color. i think that you should do what your heart tells you, i know you probably want to listen to your mother because moms are supposed to be right but if you really like this man i think you should go for it and you could find your soul mate!! good luck and god bless

this is 2006, shouldnt even look at race anymore, it makes no difference in the type of person u are, remeber that.
im dating a white guy, have been for the past year, and i have never been more happy, its all about who u fall in love with and who treats u right and make u happy!
