This goes BOTH ways. What I mean is, it seems like there are a lot of kids answering questions in politics by just parroting what adults tell them.

I guess my point is, kid's, please go hang out in the pop culture section and leave the talky to the grownups.

17, obsessed with politics and government because I'm excited of being able to vote in the upcoming elections. Doing my best to be informed and vote for a president that will not look at the constitution and use it to wipe his nose. And that's pretty much why I enjoy this section of yahoo answers, and wikipedia is a god send for sure :) And no I don't parrot what my parents say but I do have great debates with my father over coffee in the morning. And I apologize for babbling, I'm sure you don't care about me and I can't blame ya.

The people asking questions are also uninformed. Ignorance is not limited to answering. Although at least asking is a step towards becoming informed.

"Grownups" can parrot just as well as kids...sometimes better.

I had no idea that being adult made anyone more qualified then someone who is 16 or even 12. I was more informed when I was 16 then I am today. In High School I had time to read two newspapers a day, several weekly periodicals and a couple of quarterlies and monthlies. Today, I am lucky to get through the Economist every week and only have time to skim the paper.

You are such a sage of wisdom at 26. I can only wonder what you will think when you are 66. Probably that people that are only 26 should be seen and not heard. Or at least only heard in the pop culture section. A very inclusive attitude. Very "Big Tent" of you.

Trust me, I'm 17 and pretty informed. When I'm sitting in the car I'm usually listening to the news or Savage Nation. Most of my peers only listen to what MTV says is wrong or right and they are not uninformed, rather misinformed. They can't hold up a political debate against fact for more then a couple minutes. I metaphorically rip them apart like crazy. And, face it, around the age of 16-20 is when people start to place theirselves in their first reasoning of government, building up what they thing is right and wrong, what they need in a president, etc etc. Now, having a 12 year old yell at Bush because he has troops in Iraq, because Feminem "dissed" him, annoys the crap out of me. The masses do not care enough about going ons in the world, so they rely only on a small biased group of popular news. Please, do not accuse all kids of being malinformed. Some actually hold some intellegence.

Uninformed... of course they are uninformed... just like 90% of the country. Why should this place be any different. They're not just kids, they're Americans and can't think for themselves. There is rarely something I need to learn about by asking Yahoo members. The only thing its good for is getting an idea of how others "think" about something.

Quite right although I'm not sure that being uninformed is restricted to children.

I recall Oscar Wilde said "In America, the young are always ready to give to those who are older than themselves the benefit of their inexperience".

That seems to continue to be the case today.

There are alot of kids ranting however....some of them are pretty sharp. You know who they are. They are the walking IBM's of their schools. This is a good thing.

The ones that peeve me are the ones who rant about the Clinton years and were probably in kindergarten or middle school when those years took place.

Rock on!

Yes, but it's the "nature of the beast" here on Yahoo Answers, I just go with it, perhaps an application process where one has to pass a basic poli. sci. exam would be in order for serious political discussion.

You are the elitist, I thought the site was about answering questions and asking questions, and kids do parrot what is on their parents minds. Great Liberal what shall we do kiss your royal ring?

You should at least be able to construct a sentence to post on anything other than "pop culture". Hey, I finally agreed with you on something!

absolutely. They take one comment and blow it way out of proportion. very misinformed. I wish they would either do their home work or shut up. I have to admit I can get stupid on here but that it an exception not the rule.
