They have me working this fourth of july out of town and say that I would only be payed time and ahalf. I thought that federal law required your employer to pay doubletime for each hour that was worked.

Overtime = time and a half
Sundays and Holidays = double time

In all technicality, if you work for a company that is open during the holiday then you wouldn't make any overtime. If you do happen to be compensated for working on a holiday then it's generally only time and a half!!!

If you have an employee handbook this should be covered in it. However, working on holidays should be at double time. Everywhere I have ever worked if it was not a scheduled day of work, it was double time.

It should be dubble of normal wages .
