I am a female and will be travelling to a tropical paradise and want something to read while lounging on the beach. I want to escape but nothing too sleazy or complicated. Also, something that is a relatively quick read.

If I didn't want to stick my face in a book I wouldn't be asking the question now would I?

Wouldn't you rather be looking at all the tropical stuff in the paradise instead of sticking your face in the middle of some boring book?

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. A fairly quick read but very thought-provoking. It is a satire as told from a biographical point of view of the wicked witch.

Hands down, The Phantom of the Opera. It's a lot, lot thinner than John Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath and a lot less complicated than most classics. Better than the movie!
