Absolutely. Joaquin sounded and looked a lot like Johnny Cash in his younger years. It was even rumored that Reese and Joaquin were so into their roles that they started to develop romantic feelings for one another, which almost caused them to stop filming. But, as we all know, they held back and made the movie.

thats my favorite movie toooo!!!! Joaquin Phoenix is my favorite actor ever and he did a great part playing johnny cash. And Reese Witherspoon was great also she deserved the best actress @ the oscars. I never knew johnny cash and I thought the story was amazing and the way June Carter basically saved johnny's life. it was very well done. A++

While no one can ever replace the original Johnny Cash, Joaquin was as close as anyone could get!
As for Reese Witherspoon, she was amazing!

I just watched this movie 2 days ago so its fresh in my mind. What a wonderful movie! Informative, too! I grew up on country music but its not like I know about the musicians lives. No wonder Mr. Cash did so well with his music--he lived through it! June was a very strong woman!

yea awesome movie. johnny cash was one of the most original and heartfelt musicians out there.

they did so well. Reese W esp. because people usually remember her from Legally Blonde but she really did so well acting!
