Yes, they are perfectly legal. I used a free online coupon from Blizzard the other day. It's just another form of advertising -- just like the giveaways at fair grounds, or in Costco or Safeway or Lobelaw's or wherever. They think if they get you to come in and get something free, you'll be more apt to buy something while you're there. The name of the game is get the prospective customer in the store. You'll see free coupons in magazines and newspapers too -- same idea. So go ahead and use it. It's okay.

Yes, it's legal. Someone mentioned that it's another form of advertising. You get coupons because merchants want to get you to their store (or web site) and close the deal.
