The word " aboriginal " means " the first " or " earliest known ." The term originated in Italy and Greece...but the Oldest Aborigines are believed to be Native people of Australia.

The term can also be used for native "original" peoples anywhere. As Aborigines, capitalized, it refers to the non-European peoples of Australia.
