Deleting the program file will not uninstall the program, it will render the program usless however. Deleting from program files will not remove entries in the registry.

You should look for a uninstall program inside that programs,, programs files. Or visit the website of that program to see if there is an uninstall executable or directions for uninstall.

Sometimes running the installer will give you the option to remove the software as well.

What is your operating system? If it's Windows XP, and your program is a Windows component, there is a thing you can click in Add/Remove that says "Add/Remove Windows Components." Usually off to the left in the sidebar. If it's not a Windows component, you can delete the folder, but this won't remove registry entries. Also, you might delete shared files, which could negatively impact other programs. I wonder why your program isn't showing up in Add/Remove. What is the program, if I may ask? That information would help me and others to better answer the question. Also, what is your operating system?

You'll have to find the folder that contains all of the files for that program and delete it with all of its contents. I am guessing that the whole world knows by now that you can't just delete a desktop shortcut to delete a program. Doublecheck the folder for an "uninstall" file, but if it doesn't have one, deleting the entire program folder should get rid of it. After you've tossed it in the trash, delete your trash folder, too. Also delete any reference to the program that you find anywhere else on the system. Good luck.

If the program shows up on the tool bar along the bottom of the screen you can try right clicking & delete.
