Do it - but have a lawyer look it over first to make sure it's fair. If it's highly in their favor, then you should have a little talk with your honey, cuz something's wrong there.

I know pre-nups are hardly romantic, but it makes it so much easier for both of you should the worst happen. There's nothing wrong with asserting what's officially hers and what's officially yours before you get married - after all, you wouldn't want any collections or memorabilia you may have to be split in half if you divorce. Also, it'll save you from having to sell stuff you'd rather keep.

Trust me, your sweetie doesn't love you any less, nor do they assume you guys are going to get a divorce. They're just trying to make sure they'll get to keep the stuff they consider to be theirs - just in case.

Sign it of course. Before marriage everything is rosy and nice and rosy! When you divorce, the strangest thing happens: you're not that friendly anymore. You'd be surprised what your partner will fight for. Sign the paper and save yourself a lot of headache, money and time during your future divorce. If you live in larger cities like New York, Chicago etc or anywhere in California you're chances of divorce are somewhat high.

dont sign without having your own attorney ..not his...read and make sure its fair...if your not familiar with the legal jargon and the loop holes that can be in a legal document...its imperative ti seek legal counsel.

and there is nothing wrong with one asking another to sign a pre-nup before the wedding...especially if there is a family fortune involved...so dont get upset...and pay to get your own attorney to read the actual papers...and if all is well...sign and carry on.

i would read the pre-nup first so that you know whats in it or have a lawyer read it and explain everything. i think a pre-nup could be a good thing. i kinda wish i had. my husband was dumb enough to think u could get one after your married.

At first I would be upset, cuz that means they think it may not work out. But in reality, you are just protecting yourselves. More then 50% of marriages end in divorce. Maybe you will be lucky and never need it, but if it didnt work out, boy will you be glad you had one!!!!!!!!

I say sign it, dont fight over it, dont make it a big deal, and get on with your lives.

It's wise to sign one. Yibpub said it well, you never know what someone will decide to fight over. I knew a couple that got a divorce and they fought over a punch bowl and toothpick holder.

I would want to get to the reason why. Financial reasons? Fidelity concerns? Sounds like you need to sit down and have a nice long talk.
