I don't believe the federal or state governments are competent to regulate medical practice to that degree.
The federal law being challenged is based on congressional findings that say certain medical procedures are never necessary. Congress doesn't seem to care that hundreds of doctors across the country things Congress doesn't know what it's talking about. 51% of Congress could say the moon is made of green cheese. That doesn't make them right.
Even the phrase "partial-birth abortion" is just a marketing tactic. There is no partial birth going on at all. It's just a catch phrase to inflame people's religious passions.
The federal government is a government of limited authority, based on specifically enumerated powers. It doesn't have the authority to directly regulate medical practices, and three separate courts have pointed that out to them.
I think the federal government should get out of the business of trying to run people's lives. I think they have no business telling people who they can or cannot marry, what doctor-prescribed medications they are or are not allowed to take, and what medical procedures they should or should not have.
Congress doesn't have the medical or scientific expertise to make those kind of medical decisions on a national prospective basis, and last I checked practicing medicine without a license was against the law.

No. I'm pro-choice except for when it comes to that. Partial birth abortion is disgusting. You actually give birth to the child and then watch the skull get crushed. that's the most barbaric thing i've ever heard.

Partial birth would be whole birth if they went ahead and pulled the baby's head all the way out of the vagina. In my opinion, it's murder.
