I recently left a company mainly because of that. There were some other issues. Once you give a notice or agree that you cannot work under certain circumstances can your unemployment benefits be denied?

If you quit, you get no unemployment. Its only if they let you go.

It is true, you have to be fired or laid off. In some states you can get unemployment if you quit but it is just about impossible. To prove it you have to copy your time sheets and keep copies about what has changed on your sheets, without this stuff you are screwed. I used to manage a place where the previous manager was doing that, and my staff couldnt do anything because they didnt keep records.

In Montana you go to the Wage and Hour bureau BUT you might ask the employer "Why" they did it first. Circumstances differ from state to state. Talk to whoever your unemployment folks are. You can't merely just Quit, there must be a reason(s). Keep in mind you will be required to furnish proof.

Ask why? If they don't give you a good ans. contact the labor board. The phone # should be posted at your time clock. If you are part time they can cut benefits. Check your handbook. Sometime they can.

Make a copy of your timesheet before you turn it in. If your paid hours are different from what you turned in, you can complain to the employment commission in your area.
