I read that statistics show that drunk drivers cause less accidents than people on cell phones do. Is there anything that is really THAT pressing that you cant wait until your car is parked? Is there anyone out there who has not had a close call because of a driver on the phone? Have a look at this list of countries that have and have not banned cell phones while driving. Buckle your seat belt and hang up the damn phone!

Because they are generally redundant.

Most states already have laws against driving while impaired (not just intoxicated), and/or for driving in a manner that does not meet the requirements of due care.

These laws are equally applicable to driving using cell phones, driving while eating or putting on make-up, or driving while having sex.

It's really not necessary to pass a law prohibiting every single one of these activities individually, since the general law against being careless and driving while distracted would already apply.

Besides, let's say the law gets passed. Does it apply to hands-free conversations? Does it matter whether the hands-free is a headset or speakerphone? Does it matter whether the call is income or outgoing?

Is driving while talking on a speakerphone really any more dangerous than driving while talking to someone in the backseat of your car? Do you want to ban all conversations inside vehicles, because they might be distracting?

I'm not saying that people have a right to be stupid and careless. I'm saying that we already have generally applicable laws that prohibit being stupid and careless, and we don't need another specific one that won't add anything, and will just result in more legal arguments.

People are willing to risk accidents to have the priviledge to talk on cell phones while driving. Laws have not been successful everywhere to make it illegal. You should start lobbying for it. There is probably a bill pending in your state. Talk to your legislator.

One more thought: There would be zero accidents if driving were totally illegal for everyone; do you favor that?

in case you at the instantaneous are unlikely to be ingesting purely use a seize and keep it in there, it appears that evidently fantastic and its useful. once you're planning on being inebriated at one aspect a seize may no longer be perfect, as its consumer-friendly to placed down and overlook about it or purely purely lose it with out extremely noticing until eventually its too previous due. in case you'd be ingesting purely placed on a small handbag with a shoulder strap that way its a lot less difficult to keep song of. and also in case you get too inebriated you could placed on it for the length of your chest, which makes it just about no longer accessible to lose.

Any matter that is not federally regulated is left to the states. Maybe you should start a lobbying group, you are pretty passionate about this issue!

Cause some places aren't rich enough to have cell phones so they don't require the no-cell-phone-while-driving-law.

Same reason smoking isn't illegal everywhere. Too many people want to do it.
