I moved about every three years in my youth.

I found that leaving the old friends was always harder than making new ones.

You will have no problem making new friends, I promise! Besides, in some ways, it's pretty cool being "the new kid."

Good luck in school and have fun with your new friends!

Ask someone in a class to study together.

Join a team or a club - sports, academic, fun, whatever kind.

Volunteer some place where the students hang out or go to a lot - the library, the school supplies store, maybe even the cafeteria.

The idea is to get out and circulate, and increase your chances of meeting lots of people. Some of them are bound to be friendly.

Everybody was "new" at one time. Just be yourself and you will meet kids like you. Don't be afriad to talk to people. I was very shy as a kid. Now that I'm older, I have no problem with talking to anybody. If you never ask, the answer is always No. If you never speak, people with think you are arrogant, introverted or disinterested. Open up, smile, snicker at someone else's joke, let people know you are there...

Say "Hi" and smile as much as you can. People like to get to know happy people who appear interested in them.

You'll know some people after the very first day.

Be yourself. You'll meet new people and make new friends. It just takes a little time. I'm sure you won't be the only newbie there.
