The "in box" lists all mail the first one often is new and possible trouble ????

As long as the preview pane is open ittt will show your the contents of the e-mail. If you are afraid of a virsue you can go into the options and tell it not to download the attachments.

As long as the Preview Pane is visable, Yes, the top one in the list will be active and open. Can be very dangerous.
My advice - turn off the preview pane.

I think you have the Preview Pane turned on.
Click Window - Preview Pane to toggle it off. Then it's not opened when you go to the inbox.

If i will pay all the expenses, study all the unsolicited mail and safeguard all correspondence, then you certainly guess i'm going to open his mail. i don't think of there's a reformatory interior the country that would desire to accommodate all the girls persons who open their husbands' mail.

that's just the way outlook express is once you click inbox or any folder for that matter it goes directly to the last message
