It's up to the physician's discretion. I had four ultrasounds, one at my first visit (13 weeks), one at 20 weeks, one at 32 weeks (due to complications) and one at 36 weeks (he wanted to see what position the baby was in before he opted to induce vs. c-section). Some insurance companies will only pay for two ultrasounds (not counting fetal monitoring at the time of birth).

You are lucky then. Most insurances only cover the one at 20 weeks...and even then, some don't even cover that unless there is a possible problem. You doubtfully will get another ultrasound. Take this opportunity to get one done yourself. Get some of your female family members to pitch in some money and get a 4D ultrasound done. Its about $250 or maybe a little more. But its pretty cool. You can see the features of the child if they can get a good shot.

It really depends on your doctor and your pregnancy. I go to the doctor once a month and I get an ultrasound done everytime I go because i'm an extremely high risk pregnancy. I'm only 11wks and I've been to the hospital so many times its crazy. I'm a threatened miscarriage and a high risk pregnancy. My doctor wants to be very consist with whats going on and checking the baby to make sure everything is okay. It jus all depends. GOOD LUCK

Not normally. Unless the doctor wants to measure how big the baby is, 1 or 2 is all you get.

Did you find out the sex?

Congratulations. Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well.

Wow! I only got 1 my whole pregnancy!! It was at 4 months. Are you considered a high risk pregnancy? If so, then yes you most definitly will get another. Hope this helped.

I got a 3rd only because I begged that I wanted to find out what I was having. Still didn't gind out, and I didn't have a fourth done.

Insurance paid for mine...but I also had toxemia

Usually they only give you one if everything is healthy. I had one at four months just as a precaution and then one a eight months to find out sex. The dr. told me they only do one unless they feel it necessary to do more than that.
