My friend is going in to hospital for an operation. She has to stay in hospital for the week. All she's told me is that, it's to do with womens problems. Has anybody any ideas what the operation could be? And I know it's not a boob job?

If she has to stay in the hospital for a week then it is something rather serious. A hysterectomy is usually an overnight procedure. But as was already said, she obviously does not want anyone to know what is going on, so respect her privacy, give her a call the day after her surgery to make sure all is well, check up on her, then maybe she will open up to you after it is over. A lot of times when people are going through scary things like major surgery they don't want others to know because it makes it worse. A lot of people of a tendency to mention horror stories they have heard or to just dwell on the upcoming hospital stay. This may just be her way of dealing with the situation.

She is probably having a major labial reduction. It's becoming very popular since the camel foot syndrome became markedly observed throughout the western world. Some women are literally so 'excessive' in this field that the term 'jumbo ear crutch' became a popular idiom in latter years. And the bonus here is that a labial reduction compliments the need for spare tissue in the burns unit, indeed one man was grateful for a new pair of ears this way only recently.
BUT ... if you have read and believed any of the above, you are grotesquely invasive in your friends private affairs!

You don't say what her health is like, so it could be just about anything, but "womens problems" brings hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) to my mind.
