My SON!

My first date two years ago with my now-fiance ranks pretty high up there. I'll also always remember turning 18. My parents weren't home so my best friend and I took it upon ourselves to make a cake. It was a sickeningly sweet, bright-pink affair that reminded us of something Barbie would covet. I was irritated that my parents didn't do anything, but having my best friend over and making such an atrocity was so much fun - and I consider it the true gift of a friendship (I know that sounds corny) that is still strong some seven years later.

A 1977 Chevy Nova fastback, I bought from a little old lady--who had NO idea just how powerful a car she had. She drove me around for a test spin in it, saying she was selling the car "because my eyesight is going bad"--as we climbed the 70 m.p.h. mark!!!

Indeed, it was a fast car--with added whiz bang stuff and a special paint job direct from Chevrolet itself (my uncle was a top Chevy Motors corporate administrator). Even as a teen back then, I impressed my parents with my held true idea that just because I had a fast car, didn't necessarily mean I had to drive it fast.

If I were a multi-millionaire, given the privilege of owning any supercar out there, that '77 Nova fastback is the one car I'd buy and proudly own again.

Can't remember getting anything for my birthday. I know I had a party when I was 4. The house was crowded. Don't remember what I got. After that, nothing comes to mind.
