So not true!

In fact the caffeine in chocolate can relieve the pain from menstrual cramps and doing a little exercise can also relieve the pain. Exercise also helps to keep the blood flowing in your pelvis, easing that heavy, bloated feeling. Workouts that stretch your body--cycling with your legs up in the air, for example--are best. I do a little exercise when I am on my period and it helps a lot!

I can't believe that in this day and age these misconceptions are still around. Please do exercise as much as you feel comfortable doing. Tampons or pads may make certain exercises uncomfortable but exercise helps relieve the symptoms of PMS. I find that when I exercise regularly I don't get real bad headaches, bloated or cramps when I menstruate. As for not eating certain things, it is true that foods that are high in salt, sugar and caffeine can make these symptoms worse. But a little bit of chocolate or ice cream shouldn't hurt. Just don't overdo it.

I have never found any of those things to be true. Chocolate is what saves my husband from the wrath of PMS. The same goes for ice cream. You can definitely exercise, just make sure you wear the right sanitary product for your needs. Exercise is actually good for you at that time because it helps with cramps if you get them. I would say nothing you have been told is true. Do they have health class at your school? Maybe talk to the school nurse about this stuff. good luck.

To some extent it might be true. In my case during my period I cannot eat lemon because my cramps will be stronger. I also cannot drink cold drinks for the same reason. I have a friend that if she eats very spicy food it's guaranteed she'll have a smelly period. You just have to know your own body. As far as the exercise it's actually good because it distracts your mind from your cramps or other symptoms you might have. I always practice light yoga during this time, it feels very relaxing.

Not true. If you have pain, you may need a small or incremental amt of magnesium to replace what you are losing through your period.

You can do whatever excersize you like,

and if I may stick my two sense in about nutrition.... I know ice cream is the yummiest thing, but some people develop asthma in their early to late teen years, and its mainly due to the dairy elements they've been having most of their life.

Wow! Those things are not at all true! Do/eat whatever you want!

Oh, wait--actually, it really isn't great to do yoga on your period because it increases your blood flow generally, so it can increase your menstrual fluid and/or cause cramps. I've never tried it because I never wanted to find out... Or so they say.

No, they're not true.

You can eat and do whatever activities you feel like doing. It's also okay to shower or bathe during your period.

No, none of that is true. You can do anything you would normally. Exercise actually helps cramps.

No. You can do anything you do any other time of the month. In fact, I want MORE chocolate when it's "that time".

I don't know if it is true or not, but I do know that I have done those things with no problem.
