You are calling this sucking because, the expectations on America to perform in tennis is always high, but if ou take a close look at it and compare it to other nations, you will see that annually American tennis has been doing much better than any other nation one. About the decrease of the domination, it is hard to tell, but it is not something to worry about, things will get back on track soon...

Fro - you're a moron.

America doesn't suck at tennis, but, in addition to the other great points made above (except fro's). We are doing two things wrong - first, we are letting our juniors burn out by competing them to death rather than preparing them to compete and second, we do not train enough on all surfaces!

America is fast becoming the land of "hard court specialists". It's a real shame but it's the way our juniors are being trained. It was really sad to see Shenay Perry be the only American left. We need to get it together.

America doesn't suck at anything, because compared to other peoples, we do believe that you can accomplish anything you set your mid out to do... For the rest of the world it's win or die... for us it's have fun while you're at it... and if you lose, it's no big deal, you go home with a lesson learned... Here everybody is a winner!!! Yaayyy! You still get a party even when you lost...
So far America has met all the challenges, you got a new game??? Bring it on, we can take the pressure!

James Blake is a very good Tennis player. Wait untill he gets on the hard court. That's when he's the best.

We place a very high emphasis on early competition and not development. Thus, while our players are competitive, they lack the all around games many other juniors learn around the world. We also don't do enough to finance inner-city programs to help identify boys and girls with talent parallel to the Williams sisters. Hopefully the Americans will do better in the U.S. Open, (and Donald Young will grow up fast...)

You're out of your mind, America does not suck at tennis.

On edit, in response to the poster below me, you do raise good points. I'll also add that we train our young players to play college tennis and not professional tennis. Other countries train their players to be PROS not college players.

We just haven't had a good game. Other countries are getting better. Nextime we have to play better. There was one Woman that got the farthest. Not everyone is good all the time except Federer and Nadal.
