I am suppose to be induced at 39 wks bc of her size but with my first was induced and it took 33 1/2 hrs. I just can't help but wonder if the end is approaching sooner then 39 weeks. This is my second pregnancy. Could going into labor be just around the corner?? I tried castor oil but it made me sick...can it really help put you into labor????? Thank you all for your help!!

With my first, I was dilated at 3 for 2 weeks and was full term. My water finally broke after my fiance (at the time) and I had sex. They key to this inducing labor is the sperm. A mans sperm contains something that triggers labor. This along with your uterus contracting from an orgasm can help labor along.
Nipple stimulation can also trigger labor.... a hormone is relased when your nipple is stilmulated, and this hormone can trigger labor. ( I had to stop breastfeeding my son when I was 6 months prego with my daughter because the nipple stimulation was causing contractions.)
Poor mama..... you were in labor for 33 1/2 hours?! I was induced at 40 weeks with my daughter because they didn't want her to get any bigger, and I was 3 cm dialated. I went in at 6 am and they started me on a pitocen IV but it did not make my contractions very much stronger. At 9:30 am the dr came and broke my water (wasn't bad at all) and I had my daughter at 10:13am. So it really depends on many factors.... I can only wish you the best of luck and I will pray that you have a short labor!

Castor oil did not help me go into labor....it did me like it done u....made me sick!!!! Some with your 2nd child things do go a little faster but not all the time. Every women is different & labor is always different no matter how many kids u have....b/c I have 3 kids....& labor was diffenert for all of them. It will come when u at least expect it. Usually you drop just before the baby comes with the second and additional pregnancies so I'd say you're pretty close (here's hoping for you)
DO NOT USE CASTOR OIL!!!
It makes you poop but it can also cause the baby to poop and there can be problems with meconium(Poop) in the lungs if the baby asperates it.
In all seriousness there is prostoglandins in sperm and most inductions start with prostoglandin gel on the cervix, I'd say go for the homemade kind :)

First while this may be a little off topic it is very imporant Make sure everyone thats gonna be around the baby receives Pertussis booster vaccines as reccoemnded by the CDC and also keep any one who has a cold or cough away as Pertussis is very contagious and can be deadly to infants and it starts out with mild cold like syptoms. www.whoopingcough.net and www.myforeverangels.com

With my first baby i had to got induced. with my second baby i went from a 1 to a 3 in one day. then i stayed there for a week. then i went in to active labor at home. with my third. i stayed at a 1 for 3 weeks. every birth is different. GOOD LUCK GIRL..... neither does sex. showers help.

Every pregnancy is different. I was 2cm for 3 weeks until they finally induced me and it still took 14 hours and it was my fourth baby. Try alot of walking, and sex if your up to it.

Who knows I was in labor for 72 hours and they finally had to take my daughter! I only dilated to 4. You must go to ten before you push. Praying for you.

Your doc should go ahead and induce you now if she gets to big you are going to have to have a c-section I was 1 minuet from having one my doc let me suffer don't let yours do the same.

i don't know if it can put u in labor or not but i would say about 24-30 more hours!! at the most 48!! but yea............: ) my sis is having her baby any day now!! she is 16
