i don't know if it's a compliment to be commented as a trophy girlfriend-- much more-- a mistress material. somehow i get the feeling that it's not. what does it mean really? is it a compliment, or is it not?

Be flattered if someone told you that you were to love of his life.

If you're a mindless airhead concerned with nothing but your appearance, it's a wonderful compliment.
If you have a brain and want a happy life it's not a very flattering thing to say. Mistress material, jeez, nice to be thought of as slut potential; this is an insult girl.
Wake up and get an education and be more than a pretty face with a tawdry reputation.

Tough question. Normally I would answer it depends on how shallow you are. If you are a shallow person, then you should feel complimented. Nevertheless, today I feel differently... It doesen't depend on the person who got the comment, but the person who made it! If he is a shallow prick... then it means that you probably are hot and that he is so dumb that he doesen't understand you... You should take it as a compliment. If he is a smart guy then he probably wouldn't say such a thing. Now, if he is a smart guy and still told you that, then it means that you are not so smart, and there would be no reason for you to take it as an insult... take it as a compliment from whomever it came and you will feel happy anyway. Smile :-)

I'd feel like it is an insult. A trophy girlfriend, mistress etc. is someone won in a contest. How would you like to be a "won" thing and not a chosen person.
I would dump anyone who treat me in such a demeaning way.

If it's amongst friends, then I would take it as a compliment/joke. But it depends on who said it and how you feel about how and where they said it. There is nothing wrong with being a trophy girlfriend, as long as you feel okay with that.

Typicaly, it's a compliment.....but a "back-handed" one..

You seem like a person who wants tenderness and sincerity.

Stop messing around with jerks and find a good friend to hang out with. If you say you cannot find these good men.....move.

They are SOMEWHERE in the world.

Personally, I would not take is as a compliment. Basically what that is saying is that you are nice to look at but not worth bringing home to mom.

No, it means you look good but have nothing in your head. It means no one will take you seriously as wife material or serious girlfriend material and that when your looks go, you are over.

Probably not. It probably means you're either shallow, not too bright, or both. But it also probably means that you're hot! So if you really are shallow and not too bright then it IS a compliment because at least you're not dumb AND ugly!

You should be flattered because your looks are being complimented, however your intelligence/loyalty is being call into question. Basically, you are being called a bimbo.

I would find it insulting. It is a rude comment on your looks and style of dress. I would tell that person to get lost or something unprintable.
