Hi Mimi. Many dreams that we have are significant, and they can have different purposes. I encourage people to write down their dreams as soon as they wake up. Some dreams may have great significance to our lives once we understand them. Dreams can help explain our destiny, point out areas of our lives that need correction, encourage us, give direction, tell us about future events, provide warnings... Some very famous compositions, inventions, and other creations actually came to people in dreams.

Hi, mimi6. My name is Hank. Dreams are not a sign. Dreams are not warnings. Dreams are just a way for the mind to debug itself. If you don't believe me, do your own research on the subject.

There is just oodles and googles of research on the subject of dreams. Another way to discover the truth is to take a course in Psychology.

I can honestly say dreams are to some people a warning. I've encountered people who have told solid stories about these things. I think premonitions are given to some and that person is considered 'gifted' just like singers, artists and so on.

They could possibly be way that anxieties and worries that you normally keep hidden are presented before you. However you would have to ask a psychologist about that.
On the other hand I certainly hope they aren't warnings sent by some form of supernatural entity as that would suggest the entity has a unknown degree of control over our minds.

I believe that dreams can act as both and as neither. There are some dreams that are jus the mind exercising, their are some where the mind is trying to tell you something that your subconcious isn't aware of, and then finally yes some are warnings that tell you something you don't want to admit to yourself.

"Dreams are at once fruit & outcry against an atrophy of the senses."
[Jim Morrison.]

According to this statement, dreams are a sign and a warning that the senses are atrophying, i.e., that you are sinking too deep into the unconscious (the "underocean of sleep", as he called it). To me, this is a sign that I should get up: either to stay awake, or to drink a glass of water ("water the senses", so to say) and go back to sleep.

Maybe...who really knows for sure??? I do think that sometimes your dreams reflect the stress, or excitement in your life, or happenings that occurred that day...don't read too much into them......but if you want there are a lot of Dream books out there that can help you sort out your dreams!?!?!?!

LOVE this topic, have thought about it alot. I do think that dreams mean something, but how on Earth do you decipher what it is? You ever see the Fraiser episode where he keeps dreaming that he is sleeping with Gil Chesterton and at the end he sleeps with Dr. Freud? Classic episode! Tossed salads and scrambled eggs, man.

I believe that dreams are the thoughts that we store in our subconscious that through inconceivable equability pose as the problems we either chose to embrace or ignore. I don't feel they are threats but I feel that they might be signs on what is on our mind, what concerns us. You can chose to read your dreams and find metaphorical references to your every day life or you can enjoy the ride. They are not fate, or a predestined sign but you can expect them to be what is on your mind, and what you should think of understanding.
