I assume you mean in the "near" future since a "mare future" would be a future with a female horse, or is that what you really meant to ask?

Isn't it about time we had a female president? Women have been the leaders of many of the nations in the world and none of them have disappeared, gone down the toilet or otherwise gone belly-up. Women are also leaders of some of the largest corporations and they haven't gone bankrupt.

With over 50% of the population being female, why not? Either a female or a minority president, but not both, are due. That's why Condoleeza Rice is out of the picture - she's a woman who is also a minority! The Rednecks and Christian Conservatives couldn't handle both at the same time.

Probably the best bet for a female president is Hillary Clinton and while she says she isn't running, I doubt seriously if she'd turn down the nomination if she saw she had a chance of winning it - and she does.

It's time for the USA to wake up and join the 21st Century and put a woman in the White House. Why not?

In the "mare" future? Good thing you didn't say the "stallion future." ;)

Having a female president is not out of the question in the near future. However, my guess is that it will have to be someone of the Margaret Thatcher mold: tough as nails, sometimes mistaken for a man. ;) IMHO, it will also need to be either a business leader, military leader or governor & not a member of Congress or other "inside-the-beltway" type: Someone with some form of executive leadership experience who commands respect from her underlings.

Consequently, I don't see Hillary Clinton or Condi Rice winning the seat. Clinton's fame comes from being First Lady, & Condi has been a think tank denzien, a college professor & a "member of the board" of several corporations, but never a CEO, a general or an elected official. In time, a viable female candidate will arise, but I'm not sure whom that is yet.

Not in my lifetime. I would love for this to happen, but being realistic, no. There are still so many assholes who think all women are stupid and incapable. If a woman runs for president and she's smart and plans on doing things to help the country and the world, I'd vote for her, but there is a large number of boneheaded idiots who would vote for the man, no matter how stupid or evil.

Don't be terribly surprised if the two major candidates in '08 are Condaleeza Rice and Hillary Clinton.

We live in very dangerous times right And I do not think a woman president can't lead us at this point. And other countries might try to bully us around or not take us seriously.
