When I and my brother were living together with my now late parents, he would come home drunk on an average of three nights a week. Since he worked the second shift, he would close out the bar, and, after having lost his right to drive from being caught drunk driving, would set out in his car with a six pack, blasting his car stereo until 5:00 in the morning. I had wished the neighbors would have called the fuzz on him, but, out of respect to my elderly parents, they let it go.

He always blamed his ex-wife and ungrateful son for his problems. Well, they got divorced in 1980, and he quit having to pay child support in 1994, so his story got old, and his friends got tired of hearing it. So, he found new "bar friends" who were always willing to hear him piss and moan, as long as he was buying the next round. Yet, these drunken bums were nowhere to be found whenever the police caught him drunk behind the wheel, and threw him into the county hole. I remember the times I would have to drive 35 miles at two to three in the morning, to bail his sorry *** out of the can (I only did it as a favor to my mother).

I am now married, and live 100 miles away from him. He keeps to himself, and doesn't return phone calls, so I gave up trying about a year and a half ago. Even though he will always be my brother, I don't miss living with his drunken habits!

YES. My 20-year old son. He goes through these phases it seems. This most recent one has been going on though for the past 3 months. And what I don't understand is, he asked everyone, myself included, if I thought he was an alcoholic and we ALL said yes!! Will he get treatment? No. Will he ever quit? I don't know. I pray that he does, but I don't know. I am quite thankful though that he has enough brains not to drink and drive. But, his friends drink and drive and I'm afraid one of these days, I'll have an officer at my door telling me my son is dead. Does that concern him? No. THAT bothers me, but I'm tired of trying. He has quit before, he will again, eventually.

No but I have friends that do. I just avoid them or do things that a drunk can't do. If you're under 18, then I'm sorry, that's terrible. However, I love that you put this under the Entertainment category because sometimes, drunks are pretty entertaining!

I had a parent who did this for year after year after year. I got really sick of it and even though it stopped long ago I still get angry just thinking about it, it never goes away! I don't know how to advise you 'cause I don't really know your situation but I wish that when I was younger I had made more of an effort to get away from it.

Yeah. My sister. She's going to AA for a few weeks though. If you family members' drinking gets to be too bad, maybe mention AA or something.

If it's not immediate family, just stay away from them. If it's one of your parents, speak to your other parent - if that doesn't work, talk to a counselor at school or somebody else who can help you deal with the situation.

Yes they do, and frequently. The best thing to do is avoid them when that happens. Also, don't drink, you don't need to be that person.

yes, my mom's new husband. He's disgusting with that BS. He gets so drunk and twisted then starts talking smack. I really can't stand it.
