As with anything when you ask about how long you are going to live, the doctors are only making an educated guess. You can talk to your doctor and enjoy your life while you are here.
My stepfather had a mild stroke, but had to walk with a walker and didn't talk that much, the way it was explained to me is he kind of had to learn things all over again...however because of the stroke he now doesn't do well in large crowds and my parents can move because he is comfortable where they are at and he knows his surroundings, unfortunately he also has Alzheimer's disease and has a shorter life expectancy then someone who doesn't have this. My parents are just trying to enjoy what time they do have together while he can still remember some things. Sometimes he talks but five minutes from what he said he doesn't remember anything about that conversation.
After a stroke , practice writing, walking, and before starting any exercise talk to your doctor.
good luck

I think this is something you should be asking your doctor.
