I think that in order to time travel, we need to know more about time. Of course it is the fourth dimension, but it isn't something that we know enough about. Many theoretical physicists have speculated that instead of time being seen as linear (as in Past, Present, and Future in that order), we should look at it as more of a pretzel. This means that if we are able to find a break in the fabric of time and the means to increase the speed of our machine (or whatever device we are using to time travel) to the speed of light then we would be able to travel into the past or future. However, as someone pointed out, it would be increasingly difficult to come up with the energy to increase our speed near that of the speed of light as we actually began to travel near that speed.

Even if we do somehow find a way to travel back into the past, we come upon the Grandfather Paradox. This is a simple question. If you travel into the past and kill your grandfather before he can produce your father and your father can produce you then technically you don't exist, yet you're the one that killed him in the first place. Just some food for thought.

If you're interested, I know the Science Channel on tv runs a couple of shows about time and the perception of time and whether or not time travel is realistic.

no, i dont think it's possible because time travel is really just a hypothetical situation. many people think that if you can travel at the speed of light or beyond the speed of light that time travel would be possible, but travel at the speed of light or beyond is impossible because of einstein's theory E=Mc2 (squared). this means that as you approach the speed of light the particle's (or body thats being accelerated) mass increases, so more energy is required to increase the acceleration. this goes on exponentially until the mass of the particle eventually becomes infinite and thus the energy required would be infinite. this doesn't work out, so speed of light travel is impossible. even still, hypothetically, if you were to travel at the speed of light time would stop relative to you. time would continue on normally for everyone and everything else, so if speed of light travel was possible you could hypothetically travel to the future. other ideas for time travel, like entering black holes are purely based on science fiction and such things would not be possible.

If you were to travel at the speed of light maybe but I don't think you can go to the past maybe to the future. the theory is that If you travel at 99% of the speed of light to outer space for a year you will have only aged a year but everyone on earth will have aged 10 years. I saw this theory in a museum in Dallas this weekend and it fascinated me.

you can say that it is possible ,you can travel in past as well as future ,but not with your body just only with your spiritual power .
as according to las of physics it is impossible to stop the time or over come this quantity. in all of the rules of physics we observe that if there is time as quantity it doesn't depends on any thing but all other things are dependent on it .
on the other hand you can see such people in the world who have ability to be known of the future's important matters and can tell you about your history by just habving a look at you.do you have any reason for this type of behavior? i think it is thier spiritual power which they gain after several difficulties.
they may have ability to travel; in past as wel as future .
