If some of current hiring trends persist, they won't be hired anyway (higher cost for health insurance for smokers), so they won't need a lunch hour or a smoking break.

Bite me!
signed: a smoker that's tired of hearing nonsmokers whine.
P.S. Just go outside and take a break, go visit a smoker or something, when you want to. Have a smoker buddy and go with them. Then life will be fair, OK?
You're being petty about how much time in a day????? I bet you waste more hours on the clock whining about smokers than they do smoking!
That goes for all of you whiners. Smokers are people too, dammit!

Only if the non-smokers can produce as much as the smokers. I have seen it for too long that non smokers complain about the smokers and yet cannot produce as much as a smoker. Most likely because they spend the same amount of time the smoker does smoking, complaining about the smoker.

Longer lunch breaks - no; but to sub for the cig breaks we don't take - potty breaks! LOL! Butterscotch, no comments please - I'm a former smoker myself & still get the urge, so smoke breaks don't bother me any.

Actually I think that non-smokers should get coffee breaks at the same rate than those who sneak out for a quick drag! In my office they get at least 30 extra minutes a day for smoking than I do for not. UNFAIR!

I completely agree - I've actually heard people say that they took up smoking so that they could go on a cigarette break! With some big corporations now testing not only for drugs, but also tobacco use, you would think that they would reward those who don't smoke and use those rewards as an incentive for those who do smoke to quit.

No because in the long run the non smokers do anyway. They get a longer life and those smokers usally die earlier so let them take their break they could use it...( sorry if this answer seems rude)

YES! I don't think it's fair how many smoke breaks smokers get, either, 10 - 20 minutes every day adds up.

no i think smokers should get longer lunch breaks, because when you deduct the time needed for the first cigarette, the one after you've eaten, and the one just before you go back, that hardly leaves any time for a sandwich, let alone anything else.

They whould get the same amount of time for lunch. Non-smokers should get paid more because they work more.
