Because their current leader, George Bush, is a greedy selfish B@@@@@@@ whose only legacy will be the worldwide opinion that Americans are all spoiled brats who can only think of themselves like he does, with his twisted macho Texas mentality, they basically think they're all above the law as long as they get what they want in the short run even if it involves the spoiling the earth, and screwing the common man. It's all based in selfishness and an overwhelming need to control. Step-by-step they're turning this into a police state, and hoping that we will be so overwhelmed and apathetic we won't care until it's too late. The average American has lost four hours of sleep time and spend more time in more than ever before. And you just saw that recent study about an increase in isolation. 25% of those surveyed said they only had even one close friend. We are all purposely made to feel overwhelmed and isolated so that we now banned together and overthrow this corrupt government.

More importantly, why do liberals fail to follow the Constituion? Whatever happened to freedom of religion and states' rights? Furthermore, where do activist judges get off inventing things that aren't written in the Constitution (the right to privacy, the commerce clause)? Finally, I would suggest that instead of trying to make some sort of emotional appeal or baseless argument, you try citing factual evidence and then ask a question based on events that have actually occurred in real life and not in your imagination.

P.S.: The ACLU only advocates for the rights of freedoms of people that coincide with their liberal world view. And since when do conservatives despise freedom of thought? Are you one of those who believes that America is a facist police state and mind control is the next step in the war on terror? You better check your labels, because conservatism is all about limited government interference in peoples' lives.

Can you be specific? If there was no freedom of the press the NY Times would not exist. There is no freedom FROM religion which is what the left really wants. Read the constitution. If there really was no freedom of speech you would not be able to get on this website and spew this crap. Has our gov. ever stopped you from doing anything that is legal? What the left always fails to realize is that freedom of does not mean there will never be any consequences for your actions (see the Dixie Chicks). If you'd get off those websites you might learn something.

They really don't want that stuff taken away from the American people because they are the American people, just like you and me. What they fail to realize is that if you start chipping away at the little things they turn into big things. Soon we will loose all power as citizen and America becomes a Dictatorship. People think because this is America that nothing like that could ever happen here. Well what is going on now with our government is how it all starts. If you put a frog into a small pot of boiling water the frog will jump out/ if you put a frog into water a slowly start to boil it the frog will die. That is the logic behind what is going on with our rights and laws and civil liberty's.

Because true freedom of thought is an affront to them and their "values" where they must believe faithfully what they are told or the world falls apart and no longer makes sense. It is a delicate balance where truth and knowledge are trumped by a belief system where someone in their life must be more wise or more moral than themselves. The reality is that they are weak, they rely on bully tactics, they rely on fallacious logic and empty rhetoric, they rely not on true faith and understanding, but on religious and political leaders that can re-assure them and tell them what to do as they take their rights and money.

This weakness is also psychological, where leaders inform them of a problem and then give them an easy solution in the next breath. "Terrorists can kill you at any minute, and they can do this because we have too much freedom." "Saddam is a threat to your children, let us take care of them." "Gay people are threatening your way of life, hate them with us." "The flag is more important than God himself, and evil people want to burn it." "Do you think your life would be better in this car, here, sign this."

Weakness makes them afraid, and constant fear of shadows is a powerful motivator. A strong leader is all it takes to save them from the shadows. Perfect control, and that's the way they like it.

They are focused on NOT molesting children in the nations capitol while steering clear of adultery coupled with the burden of telling the truth while under oath and, not destroying any more aspirin factories while dusting off a national health plan of some sort.

If you would look back through history you would find your statements incorrect. Its actually the Liberals who try to bend and/or break Constitution. This is not in defense of Conservatives just a statement of fact.

I think you are confused.. liberals dont think it is ok for a 10 year old girl to read her bible on the bus by herself on the long bus ride home, liberals dont think it is ok to say what you want if it hurts someone elses feelings..

liberals are for freedom of the press/religion and speech as long as it falls in line with thier beliefs. otherwise they dont want it.

Conservatives don't want to be told what to do . The Constitution keeps them it check . They think there should no government interfering in their lives , unless it's yours , then they want to control every aspect of it . From birth to death .
