Cagayan de Oro is pretty urban and you would probably have a hard time getting a rental house for a short period. You have to talk with the owners but I doubt if they would say yes. They usually look for long term renters.

Staying at a nice hotel there is pretty cheap. Easier for you, too.

It's better if you just get a hotel room, it's cheaper. And as far as food, you can just go to the mall or even in the hotel restaurant, it's still cheap.
