The whole process happens really fast. There is a stinging sensation but I would not describe it as pain. I promise the anticipation you feel is worse than actually having it done. Go for it you will be glad you did it!! Good Luck.

It doesn't hurt very bad. Especially if you get it done professionally. And by professionally I do not mean at the mall or anywhere that uses a gun. Ear piercing guns cannot be sterilized (they can be cleaned, but never sterile), because the plastic parts melt in an auctoclave and the moving pieces have small gaps that are condusive to water droplets getting in and rusting things.
And, in regards to your pain question, guns hurt a lot more than needles. It may sound like a needle is painful, but it really isnt. The gun essentially shoves a blunt object (the ear stud) through your ear at a high speed. It tears the skin and just forces its wear through. But a tri-beveled needle (a professional piercing needle) makes a nice clean cut. It slices a very small hole, and then the rest of the length of the needle tapers to push skin aside. It is actually a very small hole that is not very painful, and because the skin is stretched back slightly it causes some pressure (and therefore there is rarely any bleeding). Needles are all around safer and better to use. It will heal quicker, the needle is sterile (and one-time use, it is discarded when used), and professional piercers often go through apprenticeship programs to learn all of the different ins and outs of piercing. Go to a professional and your experience will be relatively painless (RELATIVELY, but not entirely painless. There will some pain, but not too bad. Probably better than getting shots at the dentist. But I cannot guarantee anything, everybody is different. Some people hardly feel it, others say it hurt a lot. But, in general, ear piercing is no big deal if you get it done right).

Everyone has different sensitivity, but it is so quick that you have no time to feel anything, it is over. Think of it as clip-on earrings hurt 10 times more, or during a shot, the needle is keeping poking you for several seconds, or a minute, worse for the serum injected sometimes;
In piercing, with the new gun, it takes 1 second, and the earring/needle is in and out. Go to the mall, check for cleanliness and where they do a lot of them, so they are experienced. I went to Claire's and it was perfect; No blood, no redness, no pain, during and after never.
Go for it, you will be surprised how easy and painless it was.
Then you can think of what beautiful earrings you are going to buy or ask for present. One advice: Pick 14K gold as it is the best metal for healing, and follow their cleaning instructions.
Good luck!

I had my ears pierced in the lobe when i was 9 in Claire's. My mum originally wanted 2 take me to a department store but all my friends got really bad infections. I had mine done with a gun. The girl (she was about 21) made my mum sign a sheet then she disinfected my ears, marked where to pierce and did it. The one drawback was, i went early cos i had a party and they did it one at a time, try to avoid that!! Okay she put the solution on after which helped and calmed me down, but i would still recommend both at the same time. It doesn't really hurt. It was really hot and it had a pinching sensation and was red but it was fine. I cried before cos i was scared but i was fine after. The only time they hurt is infection. Make sure you use the solution properly, and follow the instructions! never use alcohol and for the first year, wash earrings in solution for putting them in, ear solution is gr8 jewellery cleaner!!!

No, not at all. It's just a quick pinch. Having real earrings are so much better than fake ones. But the only disadvantage for piercing your ears is that you have to leave the earrings in for a month b4 you can change them and during your 1st month, they're get infected alot. Good Luck!

OK, its about 10 years since I had mine done but I can remember ... it doesnt hurt! Its a bit jumpy when the piercing gun goes off near your ear, and the 2nd ones worse coz you know whats coming, but it doesnt hurt. Your lobes will be a bit tender after, but follow the instruction from the piercer on looking after them. I also had my belly button pierced and I didnt feel that AT ALL, they used an anaestheti wipe - think they use them on ears now too. Good luck! :O)

I have 6 piercings in my ears and the bottom part just feels like a bee sting, it only hurts for a few seconds, the side part like on the outside, I did myself and it hurts a little more than a bee sting like a wasp or something but, only for a few seconds and the top part of your ear hurts like the bottom one does, just a little bee sting for a few seconds. If you like touch your ear, it will get irritated and turn red like if you sit and play with it, but the pain is not that bad, really. Right now, pinch your ear like with as much nails as you have, as hard as you can, it doesn't even hurt as bad as that does. When I did my middle part of my ear, it hurt more than it did when I had it professionally done because I didn't go fast. The professionals have guns that they do it with, so it is fast and easy.

Go to a professional body piercer, it may cost a bit more but it is safer!!! Do not have them pierced with a gun, it hurts more and is not sterile!
Do a search on line for "dangers of ear piercing guns" to see why.
Now onto the pain factor, it does hurt a bit, but it is a needle going through your body, it isn't that bad or millions of people wouldn't have it done. It's quick but will be sore for a while afterward. It's no worse then scraping your knee, or stubbing your toe (actually it's less painful them stubbing your toe).
Do your research and go to a professional, ask to see a portfolio, ask what type of sterilization they use (they should say autoclave).
Hope that helped and good luck!

Srry grl. i totally don't kno how it feels. I dn't even have mine pierced!! But I'm gonna get it like next week. I'm kinda afraid, but i figure wat's a few moments of pain compared to wearing cute earrings 4 the rest of ur life. Hey if u get it, i suggest u look at sumthin in front of u and really concentrate on it. That's wat i'm gonna do. Plus i always here that its just a pinch. This morning my cousin and i pinched each others ears as hard as we could. Its just a little tiny tingling. But as soon as my cuz let go the pain all went away. Dn't wrry. Good Luck!

I have the top of my ear and my nipple pierced, it dont hurt! they spray or wipe the target before so there can be no infection or pain. Go for it it takes seconds, just make sure you follow the instructions about looking after the piercing so that it heals correctly.
