I've used both AVG and Zone Alarm at the same time, accompanied by the AdAware spyware removal program. Most of the time the experience has been perfect. Some few cases, it has been not as good. I might believe that some Compaq Presario machines do not handle Zone Alarm correctly, but I do not know why. Generally, in all the generic machines, with a standard (not modified) version of Windows it works perfectly and with no significant reduction in performance. Look at the links given before to give it a try. Definitively, the best answer to your question comes only from your own experience.

P.S. by modified version I'm talking about those version complemented or even really modified versions of windows that normally come with machines from IBM, HP, Compaq, etc.

yes but they do not always work right. They slow down the computer. Personally, Zone Alarm is the worst thing ever. It doesn't do anything but annoy you. I hate it.

yes, you absolutely can have both, but what you have to be careful about is if you have the ZA security suit, that has a built in antivirus, then you need to make sure that it and AVG aren't gonna fight for dominence. I run ZA security suit with Avira's Antivir (www.free-av.com) and have the antivirus in ZA set to scan at optimal times for me, but have turned off the on-access scanner portion. If you have more than 1 antivirus that has on access abilities, they will fight, and could freeze up your computer!
