I know that God is not in a physical form but that doesn't change the belief that God is in the same image as man. Image? That has to include a penis. So, why would God have a penis if it is of no use?

Maybe God does use his Penis. Who knows perhaps there are other gods out there in charge of other places.

If God made mankind in His image and life comes from the female in every species other than the seahorse then God is more likely to be a woman. However God is a spiritual entity that in order for early mankind to understand was thought off as a human being. Man had the power as when religions evolved, we had gone to hunters more than gatherers and if God had to be the most powerful then it was more pertinent to portray God as a Male image. Look at many of the early religions before Judaism Goddesses are in power.

We are made in God's image, and God is indeed a perfected man with a body of flesh and bones. He does have all the organs we men do and has the power of procreation like we do. We ARE his children, after all. But taking your question beyond this point seems blasphemous to me. I would recommend having a bit more respect for the beliefs of others and would also recommend not being so flippant and disrespectful toward powerful spiritual forces (God) that you cannot even begin to understand.

This question is an example of the absurdities people will subject themselves to. Other similar questions might be: 'If we eat the body of Christ at communion, do we eat his fingernails, his hair, etc?" Or, "If God made angels, and angels are heavenly beings, how many can dance on the head of a pin?"
Rather than a literal interpretation of the Scriptural verse, we must look for the underlying meaning. We should also remind ourselves that the Bible is not hidden, it does not hide its message inside cryptic mysteries.
This reminds me of a time, when I was in elementary school, when we would laugh to read that "Jesus rode into the city on an ***." Imagine! As a child, we made fun of the scriptures whenever we could. We looked for little "chinks' in the infallible armor of the Bible. We laughed and joked.... when we children.
Now that we are adults, we do not laugh at the Scriptures. We know that the meanings of verses in the Bible is not hidden, nor do we have to search hard to find the answer.
Remember, God does not owe us anything. When did God ask you for a loan? Therefore, do not try to force Him into fitting into a limited viewpoint. He does not have to answer to us. Rather, we should answer to Him.

Not physical image. Man's soul was formed in the image of God. But Jesus was a physical, incarnate human, so He had a penis.

If God made man in his image, God must have a penis. Why does God have a penis if he doesn't use it? IMAGE?
------------------------------------------------------------------
Which idiot who said God made man as his image?
No body ever seen God, not even prophets or the angels created before man.
only Ibrahiem ( father of all prophets who heard God,but never seen him ) other prophets talked to God through an angel.
Sex is very particular to earth creatures only,by the way.

My understanding of "humans are made in the image of God" is that humans, like God, have the power to create by thought, word, and act.

Actually, the word for God in that bible passage, Genesis 1: is Elohim, and it is feminine. It is only one of the Hebrew names of God used in the bible, and that is a critical distinction.

Another name of God happens to be 'El Shaddai', which means literally 'The Breasted One."

There is no correlative name for "The Penissed One' I think you'd have a better argument in asking why God is not depicted, rightly and in accordance with His own name that He has revealed to Humanity, with breasts.

Theologically,

I would like to be as respectful as some of the others before me -

I don't know why, you have total lack of respect and intolerance for me

I have an appendix I haven't used lately. Oh, and what's hair for - why do some of us have it and some of us don't? Why do we have different skin, eye and hair colors? Why are we all different heights? Does it really matter?

Also, when we die - our spirits will rise (or not). It was our spirits that were made in his image. I'll pray for yours.

Yet another valid God question that no-doubt Christians will come up with a convenient for answer for! But thank you- it gave me a good laugh and another fun argument!
