Most of the answers profess that they have never heard of this. This may be so but it only exposed their ignorance of the ways of the world. Only a couple of months back such a new-item had appeared in the papers and there were Readers'Reaction on it also. Most of them approved this decision of the Court if for nothing else than enabling his victim an honourable life as a wife.Rapes in many cases are the outcome of emotios overpowering the perpetrator. The prospect of life before the victim is stard If the perpetrator elects to marry her he has to a large extent neutralised his infraction. Perhaps from the high pedestal of academic justice this may not be correct but sociallyh speaking it is an appropriate decision.

I think this is similar to Stockholm (I think that is spelled right...) syndrome. People get mentally adjusted to the fact that the rape or rapist is "GOOD" which, in some twisted or immature minds draws the victim closer the the rapist physically and romatically, where in truth, it is still a violent act against the victim and the rapist should be introduced to "Bubba" in prison!

That isn't morally right. A rapist who marries his victim only continues to rape and victimize the poor woman. This only happens in poor, backwards countries wher people think the woman did something to deserve the rape.

Well, it does say so in the Bible:

Deut. 22:28-29-, "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives."

I have not heard of it happening. But if the woman is willing to marry the basturd, well it sounds less like rape, doesn't it? I mean would you really be willing to marry someone who raped you? Unless you had a very sharp pair of scissors?

Seriously disturbing. Try googling and learning about Susan Polk - she was teenager who married her psychologist. She said he raped her. They also had 3 children. Recently she was in the news because she killed her husband, saying it was self defense because he was abusive. I think it can happen but lots of psychological mind games are involved.

Honestly, I don't know too many people who would marry the person that raped them. I feel sorry for the rapist, because they're marrying a complete idiot.

Like that lady and Vili whatever his name is? I think it's disgusting and sad because the children who are raped are unable to get away from the intense persuasion that person holds on their life.
