Yes-- The innitial foul was for the stomping. When several Portuguese players looked to the ref for a foul, Rooney threw down the closest one, in this case C. Ronaldo. It is common for players to ask for a foul. It is not common to have them thrown to the ground. Certainly a second yellow and thus and ejection. There were two incidents in the game where Portuguese players were guilty of simulation and should have been booked, but Ronaldo was just doing what any other player would do--alert the ref to a foul.

I think the Portuguese player that got fouled by Rooney should have got a free kick but, Rooney should have gotten a warning not any cards because the Portuguese player did grab Rooney's legs with his legs, if Rooney did not push ronaldo. Because Rooney did push Ronaldo he should have gotten a yellow card not a red. SO MY ANSWER IS NO!

OF COURSE HE DID
You can't get away with stamping on someones Crown Jewels and then pushing an opponent into the bargain.
Rooney is a liability, I'm sure that all the players were told to watch their behaviour on the pitch especially with the way that Ref's have been dishing out Yellow & Red cards in this Tournament

Yes and no! He should have controlled his temper and walked away. Still think we would have lost on penalties if he hadnt got sent off! C Ronaldo should hang his head in shame and Rooney stomp on his balls!!

no it was a natural reflex because he was falling over. If he deliberatly did it then why wasn't he looking at the man he stepped on?
Give the poor bloke a break! I admit as a Man U fan he has a temper but this time was different.
And as for Ronaldo, he used to be the man of my dreams, not any more!!!! Think i'll stick with Beckham, at least he's not a cheat

Definitely. Any time a player loses his temper and just shoves an opposing player while the referee is deciding on how severe the foul was, it is an automatic send-off.

Of course!! He did not give the ref an option. He is a good player and maybe a future super star if only he can control his temper or use it wisely
