Yes!!! I refused to go see it and it was like a heresy in my family! I told them that I know Christ died and I know He died a terrible death and that I did not need to go watch him being tortured and dying for two hours in order to "strengthen" my beliefs. I would not watch anyone being murdered, especially those I love and care about.

Please. The gore we saw in The Passion of the Christ was based on actual historical records of what it might have been like to be tortured by the Romans. It was added for effect like any other movie, but was not nearly as bad as gore we see in other movies everyday. Anybody seen Hostel?

Think about your question......... replace Passion of the Christ with any of these movies: Hills Have Eyes, Hostel, Saw, Final Destination, House of a 1000 Corpes, Nightmare on Elm St., or any gory film. Would you still post this question? Would it even be a issue?

It didn't bother me. In fact the actual event was probably a lot more gory than the movie that we saw. When you think about what Christ went through, I would really feel like a weenie not being able to handle watching it. Seems rather ungrateful, doesn't it?

The gore in places seemed to be more for effect, and I think the movie could have worked just as well without it.

The gore was too much, but you have to consider the Bible according to what is says about the Romans treating Jesus.Think about it . It was worst than real life which happened many many many years ago, way when we all were born.

It brought home how much Jesus Christ suffered for mankind, accordig to the Christian bible.

As it was a genuine attempt to portray violence in a realistic way - probably for the first time in an American motion picture - some people perceived it to be excessive.

Why would it be perverse to try and recreate a true historical event?, the saddest event of all time. Nothing perverse there.

All that gore was to let the viewers understand all the pain and suffering Jesus went through.

perversion? no. unfortunately that depiction was probably about 10% of the actual "gore" that occurred in those days, humankind was pretty barbaric back then.
