I've never gotten caught, so I'm just wondering what happens if you do get caught. Is it very likely to happen? I mean, I imagine cops have a lot of better things to do than dash around trying to catch people lighting off fireworks...

Here in Oregon, we do not get to buy any fireworks that go up in the sky. Our fireworks...well...suck. So a TON of Oregonians (especially those here in the Portland area) go to Washington, where they sell much more elaborate and fun fireworks on the indian reservations. Bringing them back to Oregon can be tricky. If you get pulled over with the illegal fireworks, I have heard there is a huge fine. However, I have NOT heard of anyone getting in trouble once they get home and start celebrating, that is, unless they do something stupid like start a fire or something.

It's kinda hard to break the laws cuz most fireworks suppliers require you to show them your permit, and all the states require a permit for the "big stuff" so you can't just go to a different state to get something that is illegal in your state.

One time we put a large mortor upside down in the tube and lit it... the explosion radius must have been like 75 feet..some one called the cops but then we hid the fire works until the cops left....Then we shot another one at the neighbors doors who ratted us out...but he deserved it..

yea, going to the beach to lite them off. as it turned out some homeless person had been killed in the area a few nights before. we were grilled then told to leave. (fireworks still in hand)

You'll most likely get a ticket or a warning, unless you start a fire and then it's big-time trouble
