Younger people in Europe tuck their pants (usually jeans) into their shoes or their socks. I think that it looks really bad, does anyone else agree with me?

O yes, I might add that they do it in Switzerland, and there are not ticks or mozzies here (according to them). Actually, I haven't seen any here...

Eeew. I absolutely agree with you.
However.
Baggy pants that are slung down past your butt don't thrill me either, and that's been fashionable here in the States for years. My point being that what is aesthetically pleasing is not necessarily what drives fashion to begin with.
And if you ask me, nothing is worse than a pasty grown man wearing shorts with white socks and sandals. Which is neither fashionable nor aesthetically pleasing, but it never seems to stop them all the same.
Musingly,

Yes, I agree. I would never do that. However, I have been known to tuck my pants into my long rubber muck boots on occasion when I am out at my stables and walking through six inches of mud and manure. LOL.

If you have a reason, like ticks or walking through 6 inches of mud, I suppose its neccessary, but doing it just because does looks DORKY. Here in the USA slightly baggy pants are in for guys, and I think they look much better.

tuck in your pants when your in the mud or the garbage with the ticks. but when your through untuck them. it's true that some trends are coming back but that should have never existed in the first place. It's terribly bad. It's beyond geek-chic.

It keeps the ticks out.
However in the US I've noticed bad trends returning.
With highschool and college guys, pop collars back in style. That's when you flip up the collar on your polo shirt.
In highschool girls, wearing a pony tail on the side of the head is coming back in style.
YIKES!

I don't know about them but I'm in an area that has ticks with Lyme disease, mosquitoes with west nile, scorpions, fire ants
and all sorts of other little nasty ankle biters.
it may look bad but to me it sounds like good safety precaution to take. I may try it.

No. As with cycling, tucking in your pant legs prevents them from getting dirty, tangled in chains, or smudged. Peace.

okay it is bad if the shoes are not boots, and bad anyway if they are socks. but if they are those skinny jeans tucked into at least mid calf length boots its okay.
