I believe the three sea shells were simply made up with no specific design or function in mind, a mere oddity with which to boggle are minds. If I had to venture a guess as to how something like that might work then I would say that the man made objects which were made to look like sea shells are in fact coated with special genetically engineered microscopic organisms which relatively quickly consume the residual pheces presence on a persons...rear. These microorganisms would in fact be similiar to that of certain organisms which are today used inside septic tanks.
