I'd rather claim a lottery ticket then claim to be humble, but if that's all there is then give me humility I guess. I find it hard to understand how any one could be humble except before God. Nothing makes me better or worse than anyone else, therefore all are equal unless they humble themselves; and it doesn't seem like a good thing to do. So I suppose that anyone who claimed to be humble should be taken at face value as there is no gain in it as I perceive thing to be.

let me ask you the following. If say you were a body bulider and I came into a room and said could you help me move a heavy box and you said "no I cant , I'm really not that strong", most people would call this being humble. Well in reality this is lying. Being humble doesnt not mean lying. Being humble means knowing yourself honestly. So if you are strong, dont deny it. Or if youre a person who is honest with themselves re: youre abilites, strenghts and weakness' then youre a humble person. If someone were to ask you if youre humble you should say yes, to say otherwise would be a lie. Conversly it would be arrogant to boast about it. Now dont confuse arrogance and humility. One is an external phenomina and one is internal (humility)

A humble person should not have to tell everybody that they are humble. If someone claims they are humble, it is usually a good sign that they really aren't humble.

Maybe. Socrates is a clear example of this. Despite of being the wisest man in Athens, he claimed he knew nothing (he claimed he was humble). How can this make him humble? He was aware of what he ignored and of what he knew. He claimed ignorance in most things, but he also claimed expertise in the field of Love. He knew his limitations... that is being humble.

I think a humble person would know that they are humble, but never admit to being humble, as that would make them not-so-humble (if you know what I mean...).

it depends..

if a person get benefits from being humble - will obviously claim that he's humble.

benefits and interests can make you anyone or anything ..

it would generally mean he is proud and arrogant.. but in a good sense..
