Oklahoma makes me think of a really boring, flat & dusty place, and that says a lot about the people who like to live there - people who like to take life slow and not have a lot of action going on. I also think of cowboys, Native Americans, and lots of wide open spaces. I would think they are pretty country.

The Oklahoma land rush.
At first, Oklahoma was Indian territory. It was meant as a booby prize to the tribes of the Southeast relocated during the Trail of Tears. The name comes from Choctaw, "land of the red people." However, as settlers got greedier for more and more ranch land, the US gov't renaged on its promises once again, and opened the territory to white settlement. Settlers lined up on the border, riding swift horses. A signal gun was fired, and settlers were allowed to claim as much land as their horse could race over.

My roommate is from Kansas and most people think of the Wizard of Oz or kind of a boring life and lots of "amber waves".
