Roses and chocolates? Doesn't that remind you of Valentine's Day? And since Valentine's Day = LOVE... Well I think you get the picture. I would go for something a little more original that sets you apart from other guys... Think of a private joke that the two of you share, and buy her a related gift, or buy her a gift certificate for her favorite restaurant. You have to pick the gift, but it should be something that shows how well you know her and her likes and dislikes.

Dozen roses scream "I love you!!!!", and chocolates are very Valentine's Day so, don't go that route if you're trying to be subtle.
Why not get her something like a shirt, and say "I saw it and thought it would match your eyes". That way, she'll realise that you bought something very specifically meant for her. Or, if you're not feeling sure about buying clothes, you could always buy a CD she wants or a book by a writer you know she reads.
Get something personal, so she knows you're thinking about her, but don't get anything you wouldn't get for a friend.

Umm get her a cluple of red white and blue roses. A bouque place will do them for you. Get her that favorite candy she is always buying at the store. If you also want to do something with her take her to an open feild with no streetlights or highways and have a couple of blankets set out and just gaze at the stars all night long and you may even get the courage to ask her out!?

I agree that the whole roses/chocolate thing IS a bit overdone, but if she's an old fashioned romantic or if she likes that sort of thing, I say go for it. Otherwise, find something that she really likes, for example: favorite food, favorite band, jewelry, etc. and give her that as a present. As someone else stated, it will show that you pay attention to her (girls LOVE attention) and that yo ucare about her.

If you want her to know that you like her then give her roses or chocolate. If you don't want her to know then give her daisies or chocolate chip cookies. Even better would be giving her a CD (or whatever) of her favorite music, a copy of a book from her favorite author, tickets to watch a sport that she likes, etc. Or invite her out for a cup a coffee or an ice cream ... you could invite her as "just friends" and then see where that leads you.
Best of luck

Well if you don't really want her to know that you like her, that is the worst thing you could do.
You can buy flowers, but not roses, roses signify love.
Chocolate is a good idea, but shouldn't be given with flowers, the 2 of them together, signify love.(valentines day)
If you don't even want to hint that you like her, you could just buy a card and gift card. (Abercrombie,Old Navy, Candle Store, etc.)
Complicated, huh? I'm sure that what ever you get her she will really appreciate, you'll be okay.

That sounds sweet. I would just give her a card and maybe take her out on the town or to eat and have a waiter or waitress bring ova her roses or present and have the crew sing her happy birthday or sumthing like.

It will be all you need to say that you really do care for her. So my guess it is a little too much. Just a simple little card and one red rose with a message saying that you just cared and hoped she has a great birthday.

Roses and candy says "hey I like you a lot" and that is something that a boyfriend would usually get her. Think of things that she like and shows interest in... get her something related to that. That tells her that I do listen to you and I know what interests you. She will remember it long after those flowers die and she hates you for adding 10 pounds to her hips.

dude, that's bit much. She definitely will get the impression you got feelings for her. How about a movie card? roses are good idea but the chocolates are too far.
