Dances. I used to go to contra dances that were a bit like square dancing but much better. You payed a small fee so the band could get some pay and then there were complimentary beverages and sweets for the 'intermission'. You really needed a break because it was quite a workout. Great opportunity to meet people of all ages. Then there was the salsa nights at other grange halls like where they might have a contra dance. No alcohol at either, just juice and sweets during a break but doing the salsa to a good band is a great way to get a date. I did some swing nights at another hall but was so bad at it and didn't want to put forth the effort, but a good swing dance is something to see, (met some great people there too). I don't know if this sort of thing exists where you are living without alcohol. There are often dance nights at places that serve alcohol, but the booze can really ruin a good time. There's nothing worse than going to a dance hall and witnessing a fight because of drunken stupidity. In Maine where I was living before there are a lot of grange halls that have always been used for socials of various kinds. The commonality was always no alcohol and all inclusive. You really can't go to something like this and not meet people, especially at contra dances because you end up dancing with everyone there by nights end as you work down a line. If it sound corny, it's not, it's just good fun with good folks.

Church or Work or School or Sporting Clubs, or Volunteering or joining a Gym or social group for activities. Historical Society, Lions Club, Rotarian, Apex Club or taking a dog for a walk in a large park is always a good conversation starter........
Good Luck.............. >O/(-:)p

I think you make the best friends in school or college, because you share a common goal and interests, and you are of similar age. You can also make good friends by volunteering.

Anywhere, life is full of opportunities. If I am interested in someone I will politely approach them & talk too them about anything. If they are interested back in me then that is awsome if not move on there are too many beautiful peopel in this world that are dying to get to know you for you to waste your time on those who are not ginuenly interested!

What are your interests? Take stock of where you would like to be to pursue your own interests and lo and behold, there will be the opposite gender doing the same.

I'd go to events of things that interest YOU...that way anyone you meet should have something in common already.
