I am taking distance courses and am looking for the best deal for selling my books too. There are 2 universitys close to where I live but they don't carry the same degree I am working towards.

Thanks for all the great suggestions, are there any more options that I could look into?

Use the services offered on your campus. It's the best place to buy and sell books because there is a very high probability that the instructors will use the same books next year. Often the campus bookstore has a buy-back period where they give you a good price, and there is also usually a student-run used book store in the student union building.
Another technique that works really well for me is to look at the school calendar and find out when they are offering the courses again. On the first day of class I go to the room and write a big note on the board: "Textbook X - for course PSYC 100 - $50 (compared to $60 used in the bookshop). Call 555-5555." Eliminating the middle man means the buyer and the seller come out ahead.

I go to Barnes & Noble. Become a member and get 10% off your total purchase. You could save a lot of money if you use B&N consistently. A membership is $25 per year. I've probably saved over $200 last year. It's a sweet deal man.

The best place to sell them at is your campus. They normally have a period sometime around the week of finals in the semester that you can sell them back. Of course you don't get what you paid for them but you do get something for them.

what's your major? I have a bunch of books i need to sell off. If it's anything in biology, chemistry, or French, tell me. I bought most of my books on ebay; there's a whole range of prices and you save of lot of money.

you buy text books? you better get with the program buddy. You don't buy textbooks, you borrow them. Either that or check them out frrom the Library (trust me they are there, even if an older edition)
