I have had really bad oily skin since i was 13 and with that came acne. I went to a dermatoligist 4 seperate times and what they gave me to use for my acne made it soooooo much worse. Im 21 now and i feel i shouldnt be havin this problem (though i know a good majority of women do)its not overly horrible... just a pain. Ive tried pro active (made it more oily) ive tried natures cure (same thing) is there something out there that I can use that will take care of my oily skin and acne together?

Since your skin appears to have severe reactions, you may have sensitive skin. In this case I would recommend using Aveeno or Neutrogena products. I tend to have an oily T-Zone and I use Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash every morning and Oil of Olay mosturizer. I know it sounds silly to mosturize already oily skin, but if your face feels tight after washing, you need to mosturize otherwise your skin will produce MORE oil than it already does to compensate for the loss when you washed. Also, try clearasil Ultra Deep Pore Cleansing Pads for use at night, and mosturize after that as well. I would also think about picking up some oil absorbing sheets. I have some from Anna Sui, but if you don't want to pay a lot you can find them in a drugstore and they work just as good.

See a skin doc. I think that it is dangerous to ask for medical advise from lay people. It could cause you some real problems. I am 55 and have oily skin. I have always had oily skin. I do not look my age due to oily skin. (Wrinkles are much less likely to happen at a younger age.) I just wash my face twice a day. Once when I shower, and once at night before bed. It has served me well. Good luck, and see a dermatologist. Home remedies can cause harm.

During the onset of puberty the production of hormones is initiated and this in turn stimulates the development of the sebaceous glands.

The incidence of acne is also primarily found in the medial facial area, where there are 4 - 10 times more sebaceous glands than on any other body part.

The hormone controlling this action is testosterone - the male sex hormone, which is found in both males and females.

Testosterone is converted by the enzyme type I 5a-reductase to dihydrotestosterone.

With this, cell growth is also stimulated - especially the hair cells, causing hair growth and the cells in the oil glands.

These combined actions cause more oil (sebum) to be present - but an excess of sebum, combined with hyperkeratinization, can cause a blockage in the follicle.

This blockage will create an ideal environment for micro -comedos to form, since bacteria have a ready source of trapped skin wastes - being triglycerides as well as waxes - to grow on.

Do you use moisturizer after you wash your face? If you don't that's the answer. Here's why. When you wash your face, you strip all the natural oils off of it, then your face freaks. "Aah, no more oils! Quick, go into overdrive!" Then you face makes all this oil. But if you moisturize, then your face won't freak and produce all that oil.
I have also been using All Clear for acne prone skin. It's by BeautiControl, which is a home based company that sells spa quality products at not-quality prices. www.beauticontrol.com It's been helping to control my acne, without drying out my skin. I've noticed that my face isn't oily either. Well, good luck!

I'm 23 and still have acne problems. Not as bad as when I was a teenager...but still...... I got on the pill to help with my acne and my monthly "pains". But it's still a tad oily. So what I do is use the Dove soap with cucumber in it (the green bars) to wash my face and then I use some sort of toner. I just use the cheap Walmart brand. That seems to work out pretty well for me.

Try Tea Tree Oil. Apply with a cotton pad on oily areas. Also using soap ar anything that dries out your skin too much will just stimulate more oil production. Try a gentle face cleanser like SpectroGel.

Drink loads of water, eat less foods with sugar and salt in them, and this might sound disgusting, but not washing your face for a day or 2 will help clear your spots up, because the oils for your skin wont be washed away. I'm 21 and have only ever had 1 or 2 spots and bad acne runs in my family, my brothers eat nothing but junk-food, and drink fizzy drinks and they have really bad acne...

Hey!

Okay, this is going to sound really weird but this is one of the BEST-KEPT BEAUTY SECRET for those with oily skin: applying Milk of Magnesia to your skin completely sucks up oil. Weird, yes... but it's been a godsent for me!!

I totally understand your problem. I have chronically oily skin, friends have actually told me to wipe my face because it gets so oily. Milk of Magnesia has helped me tremendously! My face stays matte through the day!
