This started after I got the "blue screen" a few days ago and it's been happening since. Computer seems to run slower, too, although this may just be my impression. Thanks in advance

Let's back-track a little bit.

Did you find out why you received the BSOD? If not then, did you record the exact error message you received, so as to enable others to figure out happened, and if it's related to your current problem?

Regarding the unfinished loading of a program, you first need to identify what the program is. You can use the task manager, which will show you under "Processes" what is taxing your system the most..

After you identify the culprit, if it's an installed program, the fix might be as simple as uninstalling and then reinstalling it, or if it's a Windows app, you may need to do a "system file checker," (but we'll get to that.)

First, we need to know more, before any further recommendations can be made. So try these minimal steps, and let us know the results, so we know how to proceed with advising you where to go from here.

(It's best to start with the simplest remedies and work up from there. The last thing that you want to do is to complicate the problem with drastic measures unnecessarily...(to mteaphorically cut off an arm to remove a sliver!! :) )

Edit:
I've been thinking about your problem, and since we're only allowed one response here, you'd be better served asking in a forum where each progressive step of solving your problem could be monitored by qualified helpers.

I'm suggesting that you seek advice at either of these places:

Weird.

Try doing a control-alt-delete and see what programs are running. Close any that you don't think you need - some are very important for the system to run properly, but I'm not sure which it would be on yours.

Then click Start, Control Panel, Mouse, and Pointers. Maybe they somehow got screwed up? If so, click on the default settings and they should go back to normal. Good luck.

get safe mode and check off the start up items. Did u installed any software on ur pc before blue screen warning. i think u may have to uninstall some software to free up extra memory. if not lastly give a through defrag of ur harddisk.

Boot your computer in safe mode F8 upon start up before windows screen. Run another virus scan, but try multiple virus detectors. Try this one ... http://www.bitdefender.com/scan8/ie.html

or

If those fail you may have to reinstall everything on your computer again...hours of fun...

Click in the task bar, and bring up the Task Manager and see what is the program or process using up all of your CPU power, and then re-install the damaged software.

Or better yet, re-install Windows.

Try doing a system restore and back it up to a date before you noticed the problem. Start>all programs> accessories>system tools>system restore. Might try doing it in safe mode (F-8) on reboot.

goto start, control panel, mouse properties, pointers....now for each action like busy, help select, and busy in background select the one you want.
